Workshop and Recital by Anirban Dasgupta |
|
Sarod player Anirban Dasgupta visits SIMA for a workshop and recital on November 5, 2011. Anirban will present a workshop on the compositional style of the Seni-Shahjahanpur Gharana at the Vedic Cultural Center at 11:00 am. He will present a recital at 6:30 pm at the Eastside Baha’i Center, Room 9. Tickets are $15 General Admission, and $10 for SIMA faculty, students and families. Anirban is the youngest son and disciple of Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta. He grew up with the very best ambience of Indian classical music, with his older sibling, Bhavani Shankar also following in their father’s footsteps. Not to be left behind, Anirban also took to playing the Sarod from an early age under the able guidance and tutelage of his illustrious father. A product of innate talent, years of grueling toil and delicate musical nurture, Anirban remains an extremely humble and self-effacing artist.Anirban will be accompanied on Tabla by Sunny Matharu. |
