Hindustani Vocal Music


The SIMA Vocal curriculum takes you through a
series of well-defined milestones, helping you to go from total novice
to accomplished musician in a few years. The students are given
repertoire in composition, raga, and techniques of performance,
culminating in performances that prove their mettle as concert
musicians.

General Instrumental Curriculum


The General Instrumental Curriculum allows the student to select his/her instrument of choice and progress towards proficiency in Hindustani music using your chosen instrument. The focus of the course is on fundamental techniques as well as on the use of your chosen instrument in playing popular, light classical and classical music.

Tabla for Kids


The Tabla for Kids curriculum is designed to allow very young children to become familiar with the basics of Hindustani rhythm quickly and thoroughly. This is done while retaining the interest and focus of the student on the subject. As the child grows and becomes more adept at the art, he/she is able to migrate over to the regular Tabla curriculum of the school.

Tabla Classes


SIMA’s Tabla curriculum is based on the Delhi Gharana of Tabla.
Students are given fundamental and comprehensive knowledge in proper
posture, instrument maintenance, the syllable vocabulary of the
instrument, playing, expanding and developing basic and advanced
compositions, and finally accompaniment and solo Tabla performance.

Sarod Classes


SIMA’s Sarod curriculum introduces the student to one of the most beautiful and rarely heard of the classical lutes of India. Students are guided step-by-step in the tradition of the rare Seni-Shahjahanpur Gharana, from instrument selection and maintenance to repertoire, playing style, performance technique and more.

Sitar Classes


SIMA offers students the opportunity to learn the Sitar, one of India’s most popular instruments in a methodical manner, in the style of the Seni-Maihar Gharana. SIMA students are taught how everything from instrument selection and maintenance to repertoire, playing style, performance technique and more.
