The Seattle Indian Music Academy (SIMA) is a unique educational institution, offering training in traditional and classical musical forms from the Indian Subcontinent using up-to-date educational methods and techniques. It is the only well-organized institution devoted to training in these forms of music in the Pacific Northwest, and one of two such colleges on the west coast of the United States.
SIMA offers instruction in vocal, instrumental and percussive musical forms, in small group and one-on-one settings. Our faculty are internationally recognized for excellence in their chosen professions, and are focused on the musical success and growth of the small student body. As they learn their craft, students become adept at technique, theory and self-expression through their chosen medium. The relatively compact student body consists of about 120 students across the spectrum of disciplines offered. The small size of the SIMA community allows for intense and very fruitful interaction between faculty and students, as well as between students.
